4 IITians make it to MIT TR35 list of young innovators

New Delhi, March 11 (IANS) IIT-Bombay has emerged as the hottest centre for innovation in the country with three of its alumni - V.S.K. Murthy Balijepalli, Nitin Joshi and Vanteru Mahendra Reddy - making it to MIT's India TR35 2012 list of young technology innovators, along with and Majumder of IIT-Kanpur.

The list of 20 young innovators, all under 35 years, in biomedicine, communications, computing, energy, materials, transportation and the web for 2012 was announced by the Indian edition of the MIT Technology Review in Mumbai on Saturday.

A 4.9-magnitude temblor shook the Indian capital and its adjoining areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) Monday afternoon. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The epicentre was near Bahadurgarh town near the Haryana-Delhi border region, just 35 km from New Delhi, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

'The Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) felt slight intensity tremors, which measured 4.9 on the Richter Scale. The epicentre was in the Haryana and Delhi region,' R.S Dattatryam, director, Seismology Division, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS.
